Great Advanced Text on Commercial Real Estate
This is one of the most comprehensive, analytical and thorough texts on topics concerning commercial real estate investment that I have come accross. It would be useful for both advanced students with real estate interests and finance professionals, who seek exposure to fundamental real estate (and real estate securities) analysis. Participants in the real estate industry mishgt find the text useful, but basic. The book is also useful as a reference guide for real estate professionals looking for a particular mathematical formula.
The authors cover a very broad range of topics - from urban economics, to fundamental (supply/demand) real estate analysis, to real estate valuation techniques as well as more specialized topics, such as commercial mortgage backed securities and real estate development. The book really stands out in the breadth of its disourse both on qualitative and quantitative topics.

You better KNOW you care about commercial real estate
Commercial real estate is not for the faint of heart. I have been in residential real estate for a while and have on several occasions dealt with commercial real estate folks and issues surrounding it.
On the plus side, if you are looking for an exhaustive source of information on evaluating commercial real estate, you have arrived. This volume is going to give you all the information you need to analyze any situation to death. Perhaps to the point that small bits of brain dribble out your ear.
If your a dabbler... or someone who has thought, "Gee... I wonder if commercial real estate would be interesting to get into?" then this is NOT the place for you to start that journey of self discovery.
There are much smaller, shorter, lighter more digestible books out there on the subject that will give you a feel for what you might be getting into.
So, if you are someone already knee deep in commercial real estate, or someone deadly serious about being able to really analyze commercial properties, then this one is for you.

Astonishingly good book
This is an astonishingly good book, which integrates the best real estate research over the past decade into a practical textbook. It is pitched at masters level and is not recommended for people starting out their study of real estate.
Great text - solid presentation - just undertand its focus
Task that this is a wonderful text. However, lascilo they declare on
the front part that this is not a general book on the real estate like
vehicle of investment in the immense sense. It is a text that supplies
the acquaintance and the techniques IN ORDER TO ANALYZE the real
estate trade them like investment financial. Therefore, yes, the book
is heavy on financial analysis and the many markets and techniques of
sense that exist for the investment in the real estate trade them. You
will not learn one what approximately like selecting or controlling
the property. Those are subject for other books and course. This large
book has a rather specific fire, but it has need of that because the
subject that covers is therefore large here and a lot must learn. I
find the book to write clearly with the indispensable minimum of the
mathematics in order to render satisfying extremely important. Since
the authors have a practical fire the reader are not soprafato or he
does not get bogged down in the subjects abstruse or in the formulas
he arches some. The book has thirty understood grouped them in eight
parts. The eight parts are 1) to economy of the real estate, 2) city
economy and analysis of the real estate, 3) financial economic
concepts of base and tools, 4) appraisal real estate and investment
analysis to the microlevel, 5) completing the image of base of
investment analysis, 6) mortgages from one perspective of investment,
7) investment real estate of Macrolevel, 8) development real estate
and other subjects selects to you. From this table of the matters you
can understand the nature of this book. If these are editions you are
interested within I thoughts that you really find this book you
transport the goodses and are happy for having on my console of the
witnesses estimates you of transactions.
The Best Real Estate Text I've Ever Read
This book is not for the faint-hearted or for readers who want to skim a few paragraphs and then think they'll get rich quick.If you read this book, chapter by chapter, and do the exercises at the end of each one, you'll probably know more about Real Estate Finance than many people in Real Estate boardrooms. This will take a few weeks as a minimum, but it will have immense value.
The writers Geltner and Miller really choose to go "in-depth" with each topic, almost to the point of annoyance when you're reading it, but afterwards you realize why, and importantly, realize what you've learned by doing it.
This book is immensely valuable, and requires some work to achieve that value. It's value will be with you permanently however, because you will have absorbed the true principals of what's going on it real estate and the associated financial markets, and not just have memorized some glib cookbook answers which many people may instead be hoping for.
This is a book for thinkers and practicioners who want carry lasting value with them.
Very good text
This is a very good book. It covers urban economics and market analysis very well. The chapter on real estate and portfolio theory is more than worth the readers time. Text also covers commercial mortgages very well. This is not a get rich quick book but if you want to learn about commercial real estate, then this book is what you are looking for.

This is an excellent book for developing an analytical view on commercial real estate markets. It is not suited as a "commercial real estate analysis" step-by-step guideline for the average real estate professional, but it is great as a textbook in a university master course. Complex concepts and principles are described in an easy-to-understand way. The book has a broad scope, with chapters written from a finance, investments or urban economics perspective. One of the best books for an academic real estate course.
Worthless!
My appraisal is based on two test of verification: (1) the authors
cannot write the leggibile prosa. They do not know like to constuct a
coherent paragraph, and much less he develops one coherent description
full-bodied. Mainly academic jargon. (2) the authors say that you can
observe the real estate trades them from many perspectives, but give
to prominence to the economy financial institution. Unfortunately,
anyone that you limit their point of view to the econ of the fin
cannot make the reasonable perspective of decisions.This renders the
book useless. It is clearly that the authors do not have practical
acquaintance of the real estate trade them -- or if they are
maintaining it a secret. Written above all in order to impress their
companions in the units of the econ and finance of the university.
Look how smart we are!
This may be the worst book on real estate or mortgage markets that I have ever seen. The authors seem to be saying "Look how smart we are!" I have an MBA from University of Chicago and much of the book is a bad rephrasing of inroductory corporate finance. My book for the real estate class at University of Chicago was by Bruggman (?) and Fisher; although that book will not win any awards, it is vastly superior. This book could easily lose 1/2 of its contents. Don't waste your money.
Disappointingly Complex
This book is unusable on its own. As a textbook in an advanced real estate course, with an inspired professor, this book would probably rate five stars. As a book from which a reader can extract useable information, this book is one star at best. For example, Internal Rate of Return can't be found in the index. By leafing through the book, you can find a brief explanation of the concept, which is far too complex and incomplete for an intelligent reader to use. I am a real estate developer with 30 years experience. I have bookshelves full of real estate books. This one goes to the bottom of the pile. Save your money.

They are currently a student graduated in a master of science in the
program of the real estate. That is the handbook that by far better it
has read within my academic career. I will maintain this as reference
source affinchè the years comes.

This book is ideal for the institutional levelled investor serious, or
investor, lender, responsible of folder, or specific responsible
