Reviews:
A GREAT book, for the right audience I am a responsible epidemiologist to conceive and to supervise the
execution, analyzes and report of a certain number of tests of
intervention of health randomized by beam in the countries in the
process of development. I found this book absolutely terrible for
several reasons. Initially, the range of the book is broad. It is not
simply a compilation of the statistical methods. The authors discuss
the reasoning for the randomization of beam, its historical
development, the specific exits which emerge while projecting the
studies, fixing the informed assent and other exits morals affected by
the beam conceive. The chapter of finale reviews the central topics of
the book while discussing how to entirely bring back a test randomized
by beam. In all these chapters the authors describe the two increased
theoretical exits, as well as the practical solutions. In the second
place, the book represents a discussion brief and gathered suitable
questions. As a not-statistician, I do not read the primary
statistical literature. I read the studies of intervention of health
which use a method randomized by beam. I can attend an occasional
short conference on the design of beam, or discuss the particular
exits with the statisticians of collaboration, but until I read this
book, I felt that I worked of independent each exit of design and
analysis. After reading of the book I have the exposure to the whole
paradigm. I can include/understand the choices of design and analysis,
make better decisions, and make consultations with my more focused and
productive statisticians of collaboration. Thirdly, of the options for
the analysis, including their claims, the advantages and the
disadvantages, as of the methods to calculate the dimension of the
sample are systematically presented. This directly authorizes the
reader to make decisions balanced and healthy about suitable size of
study and analytical approach. Fourthly, the book is readable. The
ideas, sometimes, are completely dense, but because of the abundant
use of the practical examples, the authors communicate their message
uniformly clearly. I hesitated to buy this book during months, because
of the label of the prices for a book of 178 pages of unknown quality.
After the reading it, I am convinced that a course runs would not have
taught me as much. Moreover I now have a reference work which I can
employ in the thought by each exit for my studies, to teach my
epidemiologic trainees, and to quote by writing manuscripts. In short,
a LARGE book for the right assistances.
