understandable to all That what jumps my mind approximately Disquisitiones of the gauss is
that he is comprehensible from popular as me that advanced low
priority in the mathematics does not have one. You just necessity to
move slowly and with attention with it. There is sure joy that comes
with making the discoveries that the gauss it walks you through. A
book that will change your perspective on life increasing that what
you see like the numbers of bottom and the mathematics of base
philosophy. The wizards of Mathemtical as Euler and Lagrance as soon
as they will confuse them and dazzle with theirs make up, but the
gauss he will give them that understood.
Martin Christensen"s Review This book is very good, but not quite excellent. Gauss spent, in my opinion, too much time on the theory of binary forms and too little on the general second-degree equation in two variables that the theory is such a big part of. However, the rest of the book was first-rate, well suited to one of the greatest mathematicians of all time. I considered it money well spent.
Choose your edition carefully That is a large book. It is the place in which the modern theory of
number it begins. Moreover enough good it is written that it is
amusing to read today. There are two editions and you must choose with
attention. I do not know if my review will appear on both editions or
hardly. The softcover it is only $47. The hardcover it is $129, but is
one MODIFIED translation. A single person, than does not seem being
has been a mathematician, has made the first translation from Latin in
1965. That one has been modified from one square of 4 erudites in
1986. That one turns out to be important, because the translator
originates has obtained them some wrong things, like logic of double
negation. Therefore there are some places in which (the before more
little expensive one, softcover, Yale) edition is wrong or little
clear. Many of these problems have been repair to you in second (the
most expensive one, hardcover, Springer-Verlag) edition. I have bought
the first edition and I do not have sorrow, but you will obtain the
additional value for your additional moneies if bought the second
edition.
Not bad for 204 years old. The gauss Disquisitiones between 1795 and 1801 has written. If I can
read and to understand the translation of the Clarke in little time
that has taken the gauss in order to write originates it them, I will
do good. The mathematics has not been replaced and the historical
function is extremely important.
Professor It is the better book for the people that take the mathematics
seriously
Definitely a classic! Reading the works of Euler, Gauss, Galois, etc., may seem out of fashion sometimes and in this case this book could be regarded as a little out of date. Nevertheless, always keep on mind Abel's wise words: "Read the masters"! There are plenty of things Gauss may be able to tell us yet.
The best book of all time One of the most important books in the history of human thought, and certainly among the top five in the history of mathematics, by the most important mathematician ever. I enjoy reading Gauss' own methods. Especially interesting if you study congruences, cyclotomy, etc.
