Excellent ... two thumbs up!!!
One of immensest and easier to understand the text has never published on investment zone. If you are serious on the study on the investment this it is the book that been trying.


Solid Book on Investment Analysis
This is an excellent book on Investment Analysis and one of the best books recommended by the CFA Institute for its curriculum.

I commend the authors for providing a solid foundation (chapters 1-9 on the Investment Background and Theory) before moving on to the heart of this book, namely security analysis (stocks, bonds and derivatives).

This book succeeds in teaching material in a variety of ways. Here are some things I appreciated:

1) Chapters begin by providing readers with an overview
2) Terms and concepts are defined
3) Formulas are presented, followed by practical examples
4) Investments are presented in a global perspective
5) Authors help the readers work through the examples by providing calculations
6) "Real world" situations and break-out boxes are used frequently
7) Authors get you think by asking questions beforehand.
8) Excellent chapter end question sets, many with CFA focus

A hidden gem of this book is found with the extensive references to relevant website links. The authors advise you on where to look for additional topical information. A great "value added" feature of this book.

The authors have also written a solutions guide to the chapter end problem set which is tremendously helpful.

What a pleasure it is to read this book - it truly deserves a 5 star rating!!


Bland
I am enrolled in a masters level quantitative finance program and we use this text for an intro class. I found the portfolio management sections to be pretty good and the bonds and derivatives sections to be pretty weak. Furthermore, the important information in the book does not seem to clearly presented; you really have to dig through the text to get the relevant points. I guess all the important stuff is in the book, it's just hard to find. The book is big on theory and small on practical application. True, there are problems at the end of each chapter, but the chapters often don't provide clear enough explanation of the concepts to solve them adequately.

Overall, it wasn't bad. It just wasn't great either.


Good Contents for PM
I have really tried a volume that completely it has been written from the expert approximately the Managemnet folder in the datail. I am satisfying with this to satisfy that the characteristic of investment and the investment controling during the program of point studies are good attendance. After to have completed this PM, I can be able to acquire mastery of some portion/aspect of the Charactor investment. I would want to suggest like good reference.


Worthless...
Some practices to the conclusion of every understood it can be calculated with the rather simpler formulas that those in the book. The organization of the book is acceptable but it does not give the complete explanations "showing" with the example calculations. Consequently, ONLY LITTLE formulas are introduced in the book. This book is not easy to use, particularly for the students.

Very thorough! The only real book on PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT
I would have given Reilly's book a five (5) star if its explanation had been slightly simpler and there were key check figures / solutions for chapter exercises & problems at the back. The coverage on most topics in both "Investment" and "Portfolio" parts has been written in much depth supported by research from various well-known journals. I have 3 editions of this same book (1989, 1997 and 2001 - the one just before this edition) and each time Reilly has improved & updated it a great deal. This is the ONLY textbook which really examines the subject of PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT in detail (especially on bond & derivatives) unlike other texts which merely "introduce" the subject after covering the Investment Analysis part in some depth. Eventhough it is meant for those who have some knowledge of finance or basic investment, its comprehensiveness makes it a great reader for those who want to know more about the subject e.g advanced undergraduate in business. Excellent text for those pursuing MBA in Finance or CFA professional qualification but will require some asssitance in getting the problem figures checked. Overall, a fantastic piece of work; unfortunately not meant for self-study...

Excellent compendium of theory and practice
If met with a course of analysis of fairness of MBA or the program of CFA, the investment analysis it will be a book of indispensable consultation for the investment analysts, the responsibles of monetary bottom and the finance professionals affinchè the years it comes. Even if it is not an introductory text of finance, covers the greater part of the fundamental principles. The book moreover search on the esoteric one approximately derives to you, the investment of value, the emergencies of the hydrid and to proteggersi. All in all, investment analysis is a good handbook that will be appreciated equally from the academics, from the professionals and the students.


The only thing better than the book is Prof. Brown's class
I was fortunate to take investment analysis with Prof. Keith Brown at UT Austin. He is the best professor I've had in any subject at any level of education. While his excellent teaching skills cannot be conveyed entirely in a book, this is nevertheless an excellent academic textbook for someone preparing for the CFA, or for someone with an MBA looking to go into investment management. Tons of great problems and exercises!


Great book to cure Insomnia
With over 1,200 pages of the same stuff this book is complicated to read, and not user friendly at all. However, it has some good uses: You can use it to exercise (as a stepper), you can step on it and change a light bulb (since it's so thick), you can use it to stick it under the tire of a car when parked downhill.


Caution: Paperback edition is Student Study Guide!
Vigilance outside: "the edition of the book R-in.brossura" is not the handbook in if, it is a guide of study of the student. You can wish both, but not bought the guide of study under the impression that been obtaining the book in if.

As it is mentioned by other readers, it is a must own and must read book for CFA candidates and a good reference book too.

Good introductory book, but a little bit dry
The book places setting some many concepts in the finance and the investment, from the action, alloy to derive to you. Consequently, difettano of the argument deepened be necessary for the readers is left over to you. Nobody can hardly make the analysis deepened for all the subjects in a book. Even if one aims dry small, this book is reasonably good for the principianti in the finance.


Sophisticated Text
This is required text for the CFA program and many business schools' security analysis curricula. This is an excellent text for advanced/professional investors and is not intended for the average do-it yourselfer.


The Bible for professional money managers
I have read this book for my studies of CFA review and for a code category of emergency analysis I have taken to the checkers university of Notre taught from professor the Reilly. This book is a must for that they try a career in the administration of moneies or those that highly try to be instructd on the subject. Sink extremely conceived and written. Moreover, the book does not exclude null. The subjects vary from the options

Not a book for the ordinary investor.
I read this book from cover to cover and although it was pretty complete, it was also somewhat complicated and very dry. This is more of a college text, and benefits individuals best with the addition of instruction. Furthermore, This book is more for the person with a background in economics and finance.


This is the book for CFA preparation
OK -- so you want to be a CFA. Then you probably will need to buy this book and you might even be told where to get it. Maybe you don't want to be a CFA -- then you will find that out reading this book. The point is -- this book covers the fundamentals of investing from a professional institutional investor's framework (or an MBA in finance student) and does a very good job of it -which is why this has been (and probably still is) a required text.


Good starter text
Good starter text for those begining a serious study of investing. Covers global implications of the investment decision process. Strong question sections could do with more answers in the appendix
