Good text, but go for the newer version This is the original edition (1985) of "Pollock and After" which is a really great text for anyone who wants to insight into American modernist critics. It focuses primarily on Greenberg, Greenbergian formalism, Marxism, the Cold War, and obviously, Pollock's work. If you're buying this used, just because of the age, it's more than likely going to be really marked up. Be realistic. In 2000 there was a reprint of this book that included new criticism from critics like Ana Chave and Michael Leja, that looked at different spheres of gender and certain postmodern concerns. The expanded edition has a lot more information and is worth the extra cost, trust me!
