Deep ideas from rare material
I found this book to be a marvellous presentation of the antecedents of the English industrial revolution. It is lucid, on-policy in language, deeply sought, and narrowly organized. It draws the material from the important but rare sources, like the industrial commentators of the eighteenth century before Adam Smith. Better of all, the major texture of its tapestry of the ideas was a pleasure of receiving in its own spirit.
