Berkes was deadly accurate in his political forecast....and it is a huge loss for humanity that he died in London and not in Turkey where he had wished to retire. This book is all about the fight given in Turkey towards modernization or Westernization, starts with 1750 and finishes with modern Turkey. Very complete, changes of cover and birth policies, educational, religious and economic of Turkish nationalism. A book of cooling for the Turks and a exampler so that other nations learn from the experiments. There are too many personalities to know which they were, much of similar names to follow in two years of hunder of fight towards modernization but the author clearly provided phases of cut in each part of the revolution. Struggle for Modernization in Muslim Turkey
This book must be read especially now by all the Moslems of the world. Obviously, the Moslem world must change, strip Islamic fanaticism which interferes each aspect of the life, of education in justice. The first attempt to do this occurred in the empire of stool.
